Eligibility Requirements

Clear standards for non-medical housing placements. All residents must be ambulatory adults capable of independent living.

Eligibility Criteria

Preferred Housing Solutions is designed for mature adults who are capable of independent living and seeking a quiet, respectful housing environment.

100% Ambulatory

Residents must be able to move about independently without assistance or mobility devices.

Independent Living

Must be capable of managing personal hygiene and daily living activities without assistance.

No Nursing Care

We are a non-medical housing provider. Residents must manage their own health needs independently.

No Personal Care Services

Residents must be able to handle bathing, dressing, eating, and other daily living activities alone.

No Medication Administration

We do not provide medication administration or supervision. Residents must manage their own medications.

No Mobility Assistance

Residents must not require mobility assistance or physical support for movement.

Income and Payment Stability

To help maintain a reliable housing environment, placements are prioritized for adults with verifiable guaranteed monthly income or documented benefit approval that will begin soon.

  • SSDI
  • Retirement income
  • Pension income
  • Long-term disability benefits
  • Veterans disability compensation
  • Structured settlement income
  • Agency-supported housing payments
  • State disability income

Applicants with Pending Benefits: Applicants who are very close to beginning guaranteed benefits may be considered if they can provide documentation showing approval, pending approval, backpay status, or confirmed benefit start dates.

Who Is NOT Appropriate For Placement

PHS provides non-medical ambulatory housing only. We cannot accept referrals for individuals who:

  • Are non-ambulatory or require mobility assistance
  • Require nursing care or medical supervision
  • Require medication administration
  • Require personal care assistance
  • Require 24-hour supervision
  • Are actively violent or threatening
  • Require locked facility care
  • Require clinical treatment or behavioral monitoring
